Raife Gülru Gezer is Consul General of Turkey to Los Angeles. She graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the Boğaziçi University, and holds an M.A. in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Brugge, Belgium. After briefly working as an editor at the Turkish channel NTV'S international news department, she joined Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a career diplomat. She held various positions in the European Union Political Affairs Deputy Directorate (2002-2007), and served at the Turkish Embassy in Damascus (2007-09), the Turkish Permanent Representation to the EU (2009-10), and as the Chief of Cabinet of the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2014). Gülru Gezer speaks fluent English and Russian.
