The Center for Truth and Justice, in association with Stanford’s Center for Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies (CREEES), the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies, and the Armenian Students’ Association, would like to invite students, faculty, and staff, and the local community to join us in a lecture by esteemed human rights advocate, Garo Paylan, former deputy of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey.

Speaker: Istanbul-born Garo Paylan is a Turkish-Armenian politician known for his strong advocacy of minority rights, particularly those of the Jewish, Kurdish, and Armenian communities inside and outside Turkey. Deputy Paylan is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and has been active in addressing issues related to discrimination, human rights, and freedom of religious expression in Turkey, often speaking out against government policies that he sees as unjust or oppressive. His work is significant in Turkey’s complex political landscape and history of minority rights abuses.

Twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and the recipient of the prestigious Grand Vermeil Medal, Garo Paylan’s commitment to human rights has received recognition worldwide.
