Goran Lazičić
Goran Lazičić is a Max Kade Visiting Scholar at Stanford University. He received his PhD in Slavic Studies from the University of Graz and an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Vienna, after graduating in Serbian and Comparative Literature from the University of Belgrade. His research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian literature and film, Yugoslav postmodernism, post-socialist nostalgia, and satire, comedy and subversion in literature and art.
He is the author of the forthcoming monograph Postmodernism and the End of Yugoslavia: Satire and Political Allegory in Dubravka Ugrešić, David Albahari and Svetislav Basara (Böhlau, 2027, in German), and co-editor of the interdisciplinary volume Women and Partisan Art: Aesthetics and Practices of Resistance in Yugoslavia and Carinthia (with Elena Messner, Cristina Beretta and Markus Gönitzer, transcript, 2025).
As a visiting scholar at CREEES, he is working on a project that examines Yugoslav partisan literature as a transhistorical generic constellation, focusing on literary and memoir texts from the 1940s–1950s and the 2000s–2010s. The project explores how this tradition of anti-fascist and revolutionary literature emerged from, and ultimately transcended, avant-garde movements and socialist realism, and how it has been reimagined decades later in the post-Yugoslav context of neoliberal neglect and historical revisionism.
