Catherine Belton is an investigative correspondent for Reuters. She worked from 2007–2013 as the Moscow correspondent for the Financial Times, and in 2016 as the newspaper’s legal correspondent. She has reported on Russia since 1999, previously for Moscow Times and Business Week. In 2009, she was shortlisted for Business Journalist of the year at the British Press Awards for her work on the Russian billionaires close to Putin. Belton is the author of the award-wining best-seller, Putin's People (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2020). In 2021, she won the Magnitsky Award for Outstanding Investigative Journalism. She lives in London.
