Arnold Suppan born 1945 in St. Veit/Glan, Carinthia, is Professor emeritus of East European History at the University of Vienna and full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He has been visiting professor at the universities of Leiden, Fribourg, Stanford, and Budapest, as well as secretary general and vice-president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He has published several books, including Innere Front 1918 (1974), Die österreichischen Volksgruppen (1983), Jugoslawien und Österreich 1918-1938 (1996), Oblikovanje nacije u gradjanskoj Hrvatskoj (1999), Deutsche Geschichte im Osten Europas: Zwischen Adria und Karawanken (²2002), 1000 Jahre Nachbarschaft: "Tschechen“ und "Österreicher“ in historischer Perspektive (2016), Hitler–Beneš–Tito (in German 3 vols., ³2017, in English 1 vol., 2019), and The Imperialist Peace order in Central Europe: Saint-Germain and Trianon (2019).
